Many people with Parkinson's Disease (PD) face challenges in their walking abilities, making it difficult to navigate through various environments safely. Specific issues include difficulties in turning and managing both expected and unexpected obstacles.
Wordplay VR is a virtual reality-based mobility training game designed for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. This game allows users to practice essential skills such as turning, obstacle avoidance, and problem-solving in a realistic, over-ground walking environment, thereby addressing typical gait impairments observed in PD patients. It's an exciting venture, and we are passionate about creating something that can make a positive impact on the lives of those with Parkinson’s.
Initially, a team of developers worked on constructing the project environment and managing development tasks. Later, I took over the project, taking a wide range of responsibilities, including game development, VR development, backend development, and data analysis. For this project, we utilized the HTC Vive and the Unity Game Engine.
