Catch the Trickster was a collaborative effort between Koç University KARMA Lab and Anima Istanbul, showcased at the "You Know Who" exhibition at Abdülmecit Efendi Mansion, orchestrated by Koç Holding. The exhibition, curated by Selen Ansen and Brigitte Pitarakis, ran from September 2, 2023 to December 11, 2023.

 

The performance included music by a young Orpheus, whose lyrical melodies on the lyre sought to counteract the trickster's plots. In the fourth room, Orpheus was depicted soothingly playing the lyre, a symbolic act to quell the untamed elements and impure desires of a troubled psyche.

 

To create this instrument, I utilized six different distance sensors, each corresponding to a different harp note. Each sensor adjusts its tone, pitch, and volume based on the distance of the hand. Additionally, hand movements correlate to specific parts of the Orpheus image, which then light up. The hardware includes TouchDesigner, six HC-SR04 sensors, one breadboard, six small breadboards, six lasers, jumper cables, and an Arduino.
